Chromexcel Natural

Chromexcel (CXL) leather has become a staple of our American Made watch straps. CXL is one of Horween's best-known leather lines, for good reason. It is a full grain, hot stuffed leather containing a proprietary blend of oils and waxes, leading to an incredible pull up effect. Pull up is the displacement of oils in leather when flexed, leaving a temporary but noticeable lightening of the surface color.

CXL Natural is so-called because it is the lightest color possible in the Chromexcel line of leathers. The lightness can vary slightly based on many factors, including the weather in Chicago at the time of tanning! Expect your strap to darken slowly with age and wear. Chromexcel has a very soft hand and is slightly stretchy, making for a very comfortable watch strap. We leave CXL a little on the thick side (1.6-1.9mm), as it is too stretchy when skived down any thinner.

Each strap is made by hand in the United States, including hand stitching using heavy gauge thread. This model is constructed in a single-layered 3-ring NATO style. The backside of this strap is the unlined natural suede of the leather. It features stainless steel "Heavy Duty" style hardware in Brushed SS or Black PVD.

Horween is one of the world's best-known leather tanneries. Founded in 1905, they are a 5th generation family-owned business. All Horween leather is processed, tanned, and dyed from start to finish in Chicago, Illinois.
