Sizing

Our straps come in several different lengths and widths depending on the model and the type of strap (NATO, leather, rubber). We want you to be able to pick the width that fits your watch properly, as well as the length that best fits your wrist.

Read about Width below or Skip to Length Information.

Width

Whenever you see us referring to the width of a strap on this web site, we are talking about the width at the spring bar ends, where the strap meets the watch. Watches come in all shapes and sizes, and thus the width of the strap/band can vary as well. We currently carry 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 24mm, and 26mm wide straps. These widths cover the majority of modern day popular watch sizes.

As you can see in the diagram below, the width of the strap will correspond to the distance between the inside of the lugs on the watch head. If you do not know the width of the lugs on your watch (which can usually be found online at the manufacturer's or watch retailer's web site), then you can measure the distance with a ruler or a caliper. If you are not comfortable doing so, please contact us and we will help you find the proper size strap for your watch.

If you happen to have a watch that has an odd-numbered lug width, such as 19mm, 21mm, or 23mm, you are not out of luck. Our advice is to buy the next size up. The leather or nylon is pliable enough that you will be able to squeeze the larger strap between the lugs of your watch, for a fit that won't leave a gap between the lugs. Depending on the watch and the type of strap, there is a chance that the strap will be noticeably "pinched." If this happens, you can use an Xacto, utility, or razor knife to carefully remove a small amount of material from the strap where it meets the watch case. If you go a size down with the strap, you will have an unsightly gap between the strap and the watch lugs.

Length

Currently, our entire strap collection is encompassed within 4 different possible lengths: leather regular, leather long, NATO regular, and rubber regular. Leather regular has two choices with only a minor difference.

As you may have noticed, all of the lengths are listed on the web site as two numbers together, such as 115/80mm. The first number refers to the long end of the strap (the end that has the holes in it), and the second number refers to the short end of the strap (the end that has the buckle on it). The number represents the length of that side of the strap from end to end, in millimeters. This information isn't useful until you know your wrist size and how these numbers correlate to the range of wear-ability.

You can easily measure your wrist size using a cloth tape measure. In a pinch, you can cut a rubber band or a piece of string, wrap it around your wrist, and mark where the two ends meet with a marker. Then lay the piece out flat and measure the distance from the end to your mark. This measurement will give you a good idea of your wrist size.

It is important to note that all measurements below are approximate and they are dependent on the size and lug design of your watch, as well as your personal preference for strap tightness on the wrist. All measurements are taken from an "average" sized watch head; 41mm in diameter, with a 45mm lug-to-lug distance. The wearable size will vary in direct relation to the watch size. Given the same strap length, a larger watch size will allow it to be worn on a larger wrist versus if it were on a smaller watch. For every 6mm change in watch size (specifically the lug-to-lug distance), there is a 1/4" difference in the wearable range.

We will begin with our leather straps.
  • Regular Length: This can be either 115/75mm or 115/80mm depending on the model.
    • 115/75mm fits wrists approximately 6 3/8" to 7 7/8", in 7 increments.
    • 115/80mm fits wrists approximately 6 5/8" to 8 1/8", in 7 increments.
  • Long Length: These are all 125/85mm.
    • 125/85mm fits wrists approximately 7 1/8" to 8 7/8", in 7 increments.

Next up, nylon straps.
    • NATO straps fit wrists approximately 5 3/4" to 9", in 13 increments. 11" / 280mm overall length.
    • Heavy Duty NATO straps fit wrists approximately 5 3/4" to 9", in 13 increments. 11" / 280mm overall length.

    Lastly, our rubber/silicone straps.
    • Regular Length: All rubber straps measure 130/75mm.
      • 130/75mm fits wrists approximately 7" to 9", in 7 increments.

If you are still having a hard time deciding which width or length would be best for you, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will gladly help you get everything figured out.
